Another ho-hum New Year’s Eve at the library. I cleaned under my desk, changed posters on the walls, ate a lot of SMARTIES (love those!) and didn’t even go out for lunch because of snow. Oh, and I weeded abut 50 old books.
Very few patrons, which was really REALLY nice. We closed at 5, came home, ate pizza, and took a bath.
OH, I used redbox.com to rent 3 movies, picked them up. All girlie flicks. FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, PS I LOVE YOU and MADE OF HONOR. I have them till tomorrow night which is great because I do not care much for football.
Happy 2009!!!!

Sometimes my brain has to work in odd ways. Like today. Girl about 9 asks me for books about fruit. I ask her if there is a specific kind of fruit because my brain is thinking BOOKS ABOUT FRUIT????
She says no, but sometimes there are vegetables in the books, too…and all of a sudden I say DO YOU MEAN books in which the artwork is made up of fruits and vegetables? And she says YES!
I love me some Saxton Freemann, and I direct her to them. But I’d never really think of them as books about fruit. Maybe books WITH fruit…

Just another Manic Monday and since kids are off school, I had lots of patrons. One set was Gram, Great-Gram, whom I BET was at least 900 years old, and 2 bad little boys, of about 2 and 5. Just MEAN to send those little dudes with 2 MUCH OLDER Gram’s! Somewhere a mom was laughing….
One kiddo came in; she was about 4, and said to her mother “see how someone colored on that table? Will the cops some for them?” and I thought WOW, there must be some good threats going out at YOUR house!
So I’m here till 8 and at this moment, it’s quiet. Maybe no one else will arrive at all. That’d be swell!
How about some Picture Pages!!!!!

A shout-out to TMobile, I had to call and talk about a bill today and with minimal button-pushing, I got a real live person that was friendly and knew what was going on. When I mentioned something to her, she actually said, “well, doesn’t that just bite.” It was great. Good customer service without TRYING to sell me anything. YIPPEE!!
Did a bit of shopping today, and cookies were on sale at the store. I LOVE COOKIES. Love ‘em, love ‘em.
I used to love the TV show FAME. And how cool that just about anything you want to remember is on youtube, or will be soon.
and another, I always remembered this song, about babies

Hello!
Gosh, I despise alarms and getting out of bed in general. Back to work, but at least I’m done at 1pm. Feel like I‘m getting a cold.
Yesterday after a wet walk to Mellon Area, I saw the Harlem Globetrotters. Very fun.
Found out upon my return to work, and opening mail, that PBS is bringing back THE ELECTRIC COMPANY! All I am waiting for now is ZOOM to return. Boston, Mass. 02134.
Here’s some vintage EC for ya! Remember Easy Reader and all the craziness? Zaniness? And if you watch it as an adult, you notice some connotations that you didn’t notice as a kid! Enjoy!

Finally Christmas Eve, although since it seems Christmas got here so quick, I guess it’s more like “what? It’s Christmas Eve?”
I made some fudge after a trip to the store to buy peanut butter, because making peanut butter fudge is tough without that. DUH. Harder to jockey for position at the gas station than the whole grocery shopping experience!
In an effort to save money, I colored my hair at home and the color is a bit darker. Oh well. Only hair. The darker look is mysterious, right?
Just going to start watching POLAR EXPRESS again. GREAT movie, just tremendous.
Merry Christmas Eve, everyone. This one is a different one for me, being alone, but I’m OK, on my way.
And have some HOT CHOCOLATE!

Some days are just…weird beyond all belief. Yesterday someone pooped all over the bathroom floor at work and today one patron brings me a coat for another patron because he doesn’t seem to have a warm coat, and can I give it to him? and the basketball game we all rushed through dinner to get to at 6, is instead at 8.
Cute gifts from coworkers—a Big Bird Snowbabies thing, I LOVE Sesame Street, an M&M guy screen cleaner, gift certif. for lunch….off work now till Sat. OH HAPPY DAY!
Here, enjoy some tunes from the ‘Street! Happy Holidays! Stay warm!

Not sure where you are as you read this, but chances are you NEED a fireplace! It’s FREEZING here. Actually, WAY below freezing!!! Two hour delay, yippee! I always hope for a snow day because my work would close then as well. Someday….
I have a fireplace DVD playing on my portable DVD player on my desk and the soundtrack from STRANGER IN THE WOODS on my CD player.
So I tossed gifts into bags last night and dreamt about the sum of 80,000 bucks. Then arriving at work, a coworker hands me a lottery ticket. Coincidence???? Wouldn’t that just be beyond swell? Cross those frozen fingers for me!!!!

So I went out for last minute stuff today and what crazy winds! But better crazy winds than crazy traffic.
Found this dollar store called JUST A BUCK that had super-cute boxes to put little gifts in, for yep, JUST A BUCK. And upon leaving, of course, ONE of my gift bags tried to escape and I had to chase it down the sidewalk (see note about crazy winds!) I felt like I was on CANDID CAMERA.
So I’m calling myself D-O-N-E with shopping, esp. since I work 9:30-8 on Monday and 9:30-4 on Tuesday, then I’m off for the holiday, returning Sat. morning at 9:30am. What I got, I got. Now to assembling gift bags!
And as per the norm, here’s a you-tuber to enioy!

Howdy~Once again, I’m tired. I’m blaming sinuses as I DID sleep OK. I hate my sinuses. Did I mention that before? OK, on to happier news.
Gotta buy a few more gift bags but the gifting front is looking rather OK. Not good, as I dislike power shopping which is the way I GOT to this point, but hey, maybe I’ll do better next year.
Put lights on the ficus tree, blue and white ones, that’ll be the “tree” for this year. No energy for any other type. Still looks more festive than nothing.
My son at college has his second 4.0 semester! Yippee! Two in a row!
Here’s a great you-tuber from John Legend. Great photos, great song.
